IMF calls on private sector to invest into meeting carbon emission goals

International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials are calling upon the private sector to bear the costs of reaching carbon emissions standards as outlined in 2015's Paris Climate Agreement. Axios Senior Climate Reporter Andrew Freedman to discuss incentives for the private sector to engage in climate change practices and greenwashing campaigns.

"What does move the needle, I think it's a combination of bank reform," Freedman says. "By this, I'm talking World Bank, I'm talking the way the IMF lends money to other countries. I'm talking about policies that they can put in place that would really incentivize the private sector to participate more in some of this."
