In a statement, the Sterling Heights Police Department said Officer Maciejewski pulled up to the home and “was rushed by the family who were holding their three-week-old baby girl, who was not breathing.”

In dashcam video release by the police, Maciejewski can be seen arriving at the property before taking the baby in his arms and clearing her airway. The baby was taken to hospital for evaluation, police said.

The Sterling Heights Police Department said “if it wasn’t for Officer Maciejewski’s quick, calm, lifesaving actions, the outcome of this incident could have been tragically different.
