Four 375-foot-tall cooling towers at an abandoned power station in England were demolished on December 6, dramatic slow motion footage posted by a local council shows.

The towers were part of the Ironbridge Power Station in Shropshire, and went into use in 1969.

Until 2012, the plant burned coal, before briefly being converted to run on biomass.

The station shut down in 2015.

Hundreds gathered at the site to watch the demolition. Credit: Telford & Wrekin Council via Storyful
