Bakersfield Firefighters Tackle Massive Rubbish Fire

Firefighters in Bakersfield, California, tackled a rubbish fire that was spreading rapidly and posing a risk to nearby homes on Thursday, June 13.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, the fire in haystacks and rapidly spread through grass and ignited accumulated trash, including rubber tires.

“The pile of tires burned hot and dirty, sending a black column of smoke skyward,” the department said.
