A Texas man captured the moment he yelped with surprise when a bolt of lightning struck near his home in West Columbia, Texas, on Monday, September 25.

Preston Donald said he was standing on the porch, checking for storm damage, when lightning cracked through the sky. The lightning “struck the tree about 30 feet directly to my left, knocking the porch light fixture off the ceiling,” Donald told Storyful.
