A koala was spotted taking advantage of a comfy tree at a New South Wales homestead.

The animal was awoken by Simon Cheatham, who recorded this video. “Hello, excuse me,” Cheatham calls to the koala.

Cheatham told Storyful that wild animals are often drawn to residential areas during drought, “in the hope of some water and better trees.”

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has warned of intensifying drought, especially in the northern Murray–Darling Basin, which takes in much of New South Wales, and parts of south Queensland. Credit: Simon Cheatham via Storyful
