Satellite imagery taken on Friday, August 12, shows evidence of damage at the Zyabrovka airfield in Belarus, close to the border with Ukraine, where an explosion was reported late on Wednesday.

Images from Maxar Technologies show the site both before and after the blast. In the “after” images, scorch marks and burned vegetation are visible. Infrared imagery shows the contrast between burned areas, shown in black and grey, and unburned areas, shown in red and pink.

On Thursday, the Belarus Ministry of Defense said the explosion happened at around 11 pm when an engine caught fire during a “control run.” There were no casualties, they said.

According to the monitoring group Belarusian Gayun, the explosion destroyed multiple pieces of equipment stationed at the base.
