A mother koala and her baby were seen hanging out in a tree recently in Gunnedah, New South Wales.

During a “stiflingly hot” October day in northwest New South Wales, the mother and her baby stared down the tree at Simon Cheatham, who regularly records footage of koalas in the area.

Cheatham previously told Storyful that “in the hope of some water” animals such as koalas often come to residential areas during droughts.

The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology is warning the public of intensifying drought conditions. They said rainfall deficiencies were continuing to strain water resources across the Murray-Darling Basin. Credit: Simon Cheatham via Storyful
