Mexican President Gets COVID Booster After Reversal on Decision Not to Roll Out 3rd Shots

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador received his COVID-19 booster shot during a press conference in Zapopan on December 7, as boosters were rolled out across several states.

According to Milenio, Obrador was given a dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. “I didn’t even feel it,” he said after he was injected, according to a translation.

Milenio said officials gave the go-ahead on Tuesday for elderly residents in Chiapas, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Mexico City and Yucatan to begin receiving third doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

According to the Associated Press, health officials had previously said there was no evidence to suggest there was a need for booster shots. Credit: @lopezobrador_ via Storyful
