A bald eagle named Rita was captured on a livestream laying two eggs in the Florida Everglades nest she shares with her mate, Ron.Wildlife Rescue of Dade County and Zoo Miami teamed up to build a stable nesting platform for the pair of bald eagles after their own nest was destroyed in a storm, resulting in the death of one of their fledglings. For weeks, zoo staff observed the pair bringing in a variety of branches and grasses to construct the new nest on the platform.A livestreaming “Eagle Cam" installed with funds from the Ron Magill Conservation Endowment captured footage of the couple’s egg, laid on November 24. Since this footage was filmed, Rita laid a second egg.If all goes well, the hatchlings may appear around Christmas or New Year’s Day.Zoo Miami said, “This is extremely exciting for everyone who has invested so much time and effort to provide these majestic birds with a safe and stable nesting area for all the world to see and appreciate without being intrusive.” Credit: Wildlife Rescue of Dade County via Storyful
