The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) said it triggered avalanches near the summit of Red Mountain Pass on Thursday, March 23, following days of heavy snow.

CDOT said it dropped explosive charges from helicopters to mitigate several slide paths along US 550 and Colorado 145 on Thursday. CDOT released this footage, and said it shows an avalanche at the Blue Point slide path near the summit of Red Mountain Pass in the San Juan Mountains.
