The United States Coast Guard (USCG) helped rescue a kayaker who had fallen into the “frigid” waters of Ontario’s Georgian Bay and began suffering from hypothermia on May 30, the USCG said on Facebook.

The USCG Air Station Traverse City said the kayaker had been stranded in the cold Canadian water for more than two hours before they were able to rescue him. Two other people also fell into the water, but they managed to make it ashore, the Coast Guard said.

The USCG shared this footage of the rescue, showing the man being hoisted up by the H-60 helicopter before he was taken to the hospital.

“Thankfully, the survivor had been wearing a life jacket and a wetsuit, which likely saved his life,” the USCG said on Facebook. Credit: US Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City via Storyful
