Teenage Swimmer in Northern Ireland Rescued From Rough Surf

Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) crewmembers successfully rescued a swimmer struggling against a strong tide near Portrush, Northern Ireland, on Friday, September 25.

A volunteer crew aboard a lifeboat received a call about a swimmer in distress off Portstewart Head, about five nautical miles from Portrush, according to the RNLI. Within 10 minutes, the six crew members on board arrived at the scene and administered care to a teenage boy who was struggling against the tide.

This footage shows the lifeboat rescuing the young swimmer on September 25. One rescuer dives into the water to pull the swimmer to safety, and the boat tows the pair away from nearby rocks.
