Students at Arroyo Seco Junior High School in Santa Clarita, California, were evacuated on November 14 after a school shooting at nearby Saugus High School left two dead and four injured, including the shooter.

Authorities said a 16-year-old female and a 14-year-old male had died as a result of the shooting.

The suspect in the shooting was in “grave condition” at the Henry Mayo Hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot wound following the shooting, authorities said.

Footage shared by Bunny Vejar, a resident of Santa Clarita, shows a long line of cars and a line of people close to Arroyo Seco Junior High School. Vejar said parents were waiting to pick up their children.

“They still haven’t released the kids yet. They are still on lockdown,” she says in the video. “They are letting them pick them up one at a time with ID.”

Authorities said the suspect was in custody.

Authorities said Thursday was the suspect’s birthday. The weapon used was a .45-caliber pistol, which was found at the scene. The sheriff added that it had investigated two recent threats toward the high school. Credit: Bunny Vejar via Storyful
