Thousands of demonstrators joined the Women’s March in Washington and at “sister” events across the United States on Saturday, January 18, with many following organizers to voice criticism of President Donald Trump and his policies.

In Washington, participants gathered at the Freedom Plaza before marching around The Ellipse, The White House, and Lafayette Square, chanting, singing, and holding placards denouncing the Trump Administration and attacks on women’s rights. The footage here shows a cage with a fake child lying inside. A sign on the outside reads “cage the con, not the kids,” a reference to the White House’s controversial and widely condemned policy of separating children from their parents and detaining them after they cross over the southern border.

Organizers said the Women’s March was entering its fourth year with a “fresh face” and a “renewed energy to take on Trumpism, and a plan to build with a growing community of activists.”

On a Facebook event page for the march, organizers wrote: “After surveying the vast Women’s March base, the three main issues that will be driving women to the polls are Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice, Climate Justice,, and Immigration. The 2020 Women’s March on Washington will be a platform for these three areas, intersecting with other issues that impact women.” Credit: Kara Iannantuono via Storyful
