Alaska's Mt Shishaldin Erupts, Spewing Ash and Gases Into Sky

Mount Shishaldin in Alaska’s Aleutian Islands erupted on Tuesday, October 3, spewing gases and ashes into the sky.

The United States Geological Survey said the eruption had ended but low-level ash emissions from volcanic flow were still possible.

The eruption sent sulfur dioxide, a pollutant, into the atmosphere, the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) said.
